BioSphere Introduction Time line

At this point you may ask, "If he is so interested in web design and web site project management, why does he include so much additional material?" The answer is; as a project management candidate I wish to demonstrate that I can work successfully with and understand the numerous disciplines required to get the job done.

I was the original designer for the web sites at Applied Magnetics Corp., ABC-Clio's Vietnam War Encyclopedia Site, DestinationMedia.com, Komag, Inc., ProLytiX Corporation, and WeTeachSports.com.

HipNumber.com
HipNumber is being developed as an equine enthuasist portal and e-auction site. I did not do the initial design work for this site and I am afraid all my work is hidden inside the investor access area which is password controled.
 
DestinationMedia.com
DestinationMedia is a content aggregator and syndicator of rich media to the travel industry. I designed the corporate site and am consulting with the owners regarding the video compression codecs, streaming and delivery issues faced when one aggregates such content from multiple sources.
 
WeTeachSports.com
Created as an e- commerce site for the sale of sports related books and videos in April 2000 the site is now maintained by the owner of the company.
 
Applied Magnetics Corporation
Created as an HR. and Investor Relations site AMC had me update the I.R. text every quarter and the HR. material as needed. The site was last redesigned by me in Spring of 1999. AMC filed for chapter 11 in December of 1999.
 
Komag, Incorporated
Created as an HR. and Investor Relations site Komag has me update this site regularly. My last major revision to the site before they took the site updates in-house was the "Investor Relations Corner."
 
ABC-Clio's Encyclopedia of the Vietnam War
Created in February of 1998 as an advertising vehicle for an ABC-Clio reference work. I was responsible for the HTML coding here, the art work is the product of another design group in Santa Barbara, California.
 
ProLytiX Corporation
Originally created in 1994 this site received my last face-lift in early 1997. Included here for completeness, ProLytiX has been updating the site in-house since 1998 and has made extensive changes in that time.
  • Designed parts of internal corporate financial pages for Hewlett-Packard, Apple, and Compaq Computer (under contract with ProLytiX Corporation)

  • Other projects are currently in development.

  • Multimedia projects including computer based video editing, storyboard development for mixed media, direct to tape and CD based interactive computer based training and advertising

  • Developed advertising materials and have years of experience at copy writing, paste-up, graphics, technical illustrations, photography & architectural renderings.

  • Coordinated design of high tech and gourmet foods trade show booths for specialty foods, and data processing industry and have worked and attended many related trade shows throughout the country

  • Six years experience developing highly graphic, HTML and Java based materials for business investor relations, marketing/advertising, and human resources sites using Flash, GoLive, QuickTime and PDF

  • Consultant to numerous companies developing data base management systems for administration and analysis of inventory, contacts, employee training, course and manufacturing instruction materials

Networking Experience

  • Skilled at reconciling mixed networking protocols including Apple's OpenTransport, Novell, PathWorks, FTP, TCP/IP, NT (in an Exchange Server environment), and UNIX delivery over the Internet

  • Designed and directed purchasing system for an eight-site gourmet foods retail chain with gross daily sales to $70,000.00 (Cocolat, Inc.)

  • Developed a computerized inventory control system that reduced inventory by 50% by making use of contract purchasing (Cocolat, Inc.)

  • Coordinated payroll and bookkeeping functions including hiring, training, and supervision of staff up to 30 people (Torn Ranch Wholesale)

  • Revised employee orientation and incentive systems to cut training costs and absentee rates by 50% (Cocolat, Inc.)

  • Consultant to Santa Barbara City College as interim manager of campus bookstore during 8 weeks of spring 1990 book buyback and rush period

  • Designed custom gift line packaging for upper end retail markets including Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdales, Saks, Macy's, etc. Program grossed $70,000 in first 3 months (1979) (Torn Ranch Wholesale)

  • Coordinated multidisciplinary design group of architect, physicist, and clerical staff to write proposals and grants for the design and retrofitting of energy conservation measures for privately funded institutions (Environmental Energy Associates)

  • Conducted new product research, including analysis of pricing structures, distribution channels and customer purchasing patterns (Torn Ranch Wholesale & Cocolat, Inc.)
