WeTeachSports.com is more than the home page for competitive athletes who want to improve their game. It was at the time the number one on-line distributor for instructional content targeted to help those desiring to improve their skills in any popular team sport. Although their hopes got a bit dashed when internet investors left for greener pastures in the early part of the year the owners continue to maintain the site by themselves.

My Responsibilities:
I designed and maintained the company's web site. The site (at the time) was Macintosh server based and used FileMaker Pro and Lasso as its database backend software. Site design was primarly done using Macromedia DreamWeaver.

Applied Magnetics Corporation, Goleta, CA


 Sr. Engineering Systems Administrator (RBSS #5334)
Applied Magnetics Corporation was an independent merchant market manufacturer of magnetic recording heads and head stack assemblies for disk drives. They manufactured advanced inductive thin film disk head products and magnetoresistive disk head products, primarily to supply to manufacturers of 3.5-inch hard disk drives for use in personal computer applications. In January of 2000 the company filed a voluntary petition for protection under Chapter 11 of the Federal Bankruptcy Code and laid off all staff including myself.

My Responsibilities:
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of computer hardware and software. Propose and implement enhancements that improve the reliability of the network, servers, and workstations. Monitoring server, workstation, and network usage and performance. Train personnel on system usage. Manage company's Macintosh and Engineering Services Department NT workstations. Maintain enterprise wide Oracle/NT based Product Data Management (PDM) system, and Department networking relationships in a cross-platform environment including: AppleTalk, Novell, Windows NT, and TCP/IP. Design corporate training materials and presentations used both internally and externally. Design and maintain the company's web site. Site design was primarly done using Adobe Go-Live.

Interim Manager
Renowned as one of the leading two-year community colleges in the nation, Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) is a premier college in the California system of 107 Community Colleges.

My Responsibilities:
Interim manager to college bookstore during the Spring rush of 1990. Responsible for all hiring, hourly payroll records, scheduling and new employee orientation.

Cocolat Inc., Berkeley, CA


Purchasing & Traffic Manager
Cocolat was the premier Bay Area chocolatier during the late 1970's until it's sale to Ghirardelli Chocolate Co. in the late 1980's. It's founder Alice Medrich is now an author of several dessert cookbooks and a well known lecturer.

My Responsibilities:
I was the Traffic/Shipping Department Manager. I supervised and trained two full-time and up to ten seasonal employees. I designed a number sales packages, promotional displays, and shipping cartons. I designed an in-house inventory control for the wholesale business and the 7 retail outlets.

1979-1983
Torn Ranch Wholesale Inc., San Rafael, CA

General Manager
Torn Ranch Wholesale provided California nuts, dried fruits, chocolates, and trail mixes to gourmet retail outlets throughout the United States. Clients included numerous gourmet stores across the United States. We also provided private labeling for the kitchen/gourmet departments of Sak's Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, I. Magnin, and Macy's. The Torn's sold the business and retired in the late 1980's.


My Responsibilities:
As General manager I supervised 5 full-time staff and up to 20 seasonal employees. I was responsible for graphics, packaging design, advertising and trade show booth preparation. Additionally I oversaw all hiring, hourly payroll records, scheduling, accounts receivable and employee training.

Marin Lodge, San Rafæl, CA
d.b.a. Great Crepe Restaurant


Lead Vocational Counselor
Marin Lodge was started as a project of the Marin Parents for Mental Recovery to provide for a nurturing educational environment where emotionally disturbed young adults could live when they were discharged from hospitals. The Great Crepe Restaurant was established to provide vocational training for these people as part of establishing an independent life of their own. In 1976 The Great Crepe was the State of California's model Vocational Training Program.


My Responsibilities:
As Lead Vocational Counselor and Asst. Manager I provided vocational training for the emotionally disturbed in a restaurant setting. I also had additional advertising and grant writing responsibilities.
